和歌山・潮岬調査

はじめまして、卒論生の長野といいます。 以後よろしくお願いします!
ブログ初投稿の今回は、
10月11日~12日に行った和歌山県潮岬の調査の様子を報告します。


潮岬は私の卒論の調査地で、海沿いに発達した海岸段丘を観察してきました。
参加者は横山先生と横山研の先輩1人、そして法政大学の前杢先生です。

前杢先生は地理がご専門で、
現地では段丘面の判別などで大変お世話になりました。
先生、お忙しい中ありがとうございました!

当初は13日までの調査を予定していたのですが、台風の接近で帰りの飛行機が飛ばなくなるおそれがあったので、予定を一日早めて帰ってきました。


調査一日目は好天に恵まれ、絶好の調査日和でした!

道沿いを歩いて、地層が観察できそうな露頭をさがします。
段丘を構成する地層の観察。

道を歩いていると、約5m間隔で蜘蛛が出現します。
種類はジョロウグモのみでしたが、体長は大きいもので10cmほどありました。

くもがあらわれた!


工事現場を発見!
現場の人に許可をいただいて、露頭の観察をさせてもらいました。
10m近い崖でしたが、先輩がザイルを使って崖の上から下りていきます。



国の天然記念物、橋杭岩です。
海の侵食によって硬い岩石だけが残って、
杭のような形の岩が橋のように連なった形になりました。
橋杭岩の周りには、津波によって流されてきた津波石がみられます。

調査一日目の夜はホテル付近のスーパーで夕食を買いました。

ホテルの部屋で夕食を食べながら、先生方とお話をしました。
色々なお話が聞けて、とても楽しかったです!



調査二日目も一日目に引き続き、段丘面の調査です!

二日目の昼食は、前杢先生のご紹介で名物のトビウオ丼を食べました。
意外にモチモチとした食感がおいしい!

昼食を食べた後に潮岬を出発し、空港のある南紀白浜へと向かいます。
道中、海岸の地形を観察しながら、南紀白浜に午後3時頃到着しました。
19時の飛行機まで少し時間があったので、南紀白浜の海岸沿いを見学しました。

千畳敷。波が高くなってきたような...

三段壁。海に突き出た断崖絶壁です。

当初、予定していた三日目の帰りの飛行機は、案の定欠航となってしまったので、
結果、帰りの予定を切り上げて正解でした!

台風の影響はあったものの、
好天に恵まれ、露頭も予想以上にたくさん観察できた、大変すばらしい調査でした!

浜名湖調査 〜番外編〜

こんにちは!M1のあめかわです!
今回は浜名湖調査・後編の前に、番外編をお送りしたいと思います!

浜名湖の調査が終わりを迎えるということで、産総研の藤原先生に浜名湖周辺のミニ巡検をしていただいたのです^^

参加したのは横山先生、宮入さん、沢田さん、そして学生3人です。現地に着くと、プロジェクトの概要や浜名湖周辺の地形などについて藤原さんに説明をしていただきました。とっても気さくな方で、調査にまつわる面白い話もたくさん聞けました!笑

2日目は浜名湖周辺の地形や津波堆積物、津波避難所などを見て回りました。この日は朝8時から夕方5時頃まで案内をしていただき、充実したものとなりました〜^^藤原先生、本当にありがとうございました!

東京大学農学生命科学研究科の施設に宿泊させていただきました。浜名湖のすぐそばにあり大変便利でした。お世話になりました!

津波堆積物を観察するエド

彼は津波堆積物を集めているらしいのですが、サンプル袋がなくて残念そうでした。
また、ベルギーから来た2人は堆積物をなめていました。堆積物を食べて粒度の違いを体験するのは世界共通??

津波避難所。周りが田んぼのためか、少し異様な風景です笑

津波避難所として作られた丘の上で集合写真をとりました。このような丘は命山と呼ばれています。海岸から数km離れた位置に、鉄骨の避難所や命山がいくつも見られました。
