2016年キャンベラの旅

こんにちは！　M1の尾崎です。

ただいま、キャンベラにあるオーストラリア国立大学(ANU)に10月末～12月末の期間で滞在しています。暑いです！

期間中は、横山先生の学生時代の指導教官であり地球物理学の大家であるKurt Lambeck教授と、Lambeck先生の教え子であるTony Purcell博士の指導のもと、日本近海の最終氷期以降の海水準変動について研究しています。

お二人とも横山先生との共著論文を数多く出されており、この研究分野をリードする方達です。

また滞在中は、横山研主催のオーストラリア巡検の引率を長らく務めてくださっているPatrick De Deckker教授の家に住まわせていただいております。

オーストラリアの良いところをご紹介します！

①自然が豊か

何と言ってもこれです。

こんなすごい色の鳥もそこら中にいる

カンガルー。近すぎちゃってどうしよう

大学内に沢山いるうさぎ。こちらでは害獣扱いで全く愛されていない。かわいそう

大学から徒歩5分の植物園にはトカゲも棲んでいる

喉を絞められたような声で鳴くオウム 

街全体が動物園のようです。

②食べ物が美味しい

オーストラリアは世界でも屈指の食料自給率の高さを誇っています。

そして粗製乱造してるわけではなく、美味しいんです！

一推しはタスマニア産のサーモン。鮭は日本の専売特許と思うなかれ。
