View Todai Kashiwa 東大 柏 in a larger map

→"Stratigraphy is 90% of geology." - John Imbrie
Many age models are based on correlation to ice core records, especially within the interval from early Stage 3 to through Stage 5. However, there have been significant revisions to Greenland's ice core chronologies over the past 20 years. Currently the best chronology is GICC05 to 60 ka and ss09sea to 120 ka for the North GRIP (NGRIP) ice core.
Students should understand how this chronology was constructed, what it's limitations are, and how it compares to many of the other chronologies that have been commonly used in the past, such as the GISP2 M/S94 chronology and the MD95-2042 SFCP04. The differences between these chronologies are very important to consider when comparing your data to other records.
