底性有孔虫(Nuttallides umbonifera、Oridorsalis umbonatus)の殻のB/Ca比が深層水のΔ[CO32−](飽和炭酸イオン濃度からの偏差)の指標となるかどうかを、大西洋、太平洋、南大洋のコアトップのサンプルからキャリブレーション。N. umboniferaのB/CaのΔ[CO32−]に対するsensitivityはC. wuellerstorfiやN. truempyiともよく合う。一方でO. umbonatusの方はややinfaunalであるため深層水というより寧ろ間隙水に影響を受けてそう。
