1.        A 3-D coupled ice sheet – sea level model applied to Antarctica through the last 40 ky
http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.epsl.2013.09.042
Author(s): Natalya Gomez , David Pollard , Jerry X. Mitrovica
Highlights
•We couple a 3-D Antarctic ice sheet-shelf model to a global model of post-glacial sea level.
•The sea-level model is gravitationally self-consistent and incorporates viscoelastic deformation of the Earth.
•The sea-level coupling acts to slow down the retreat and advance of ice-sheet grounding lines.
•Results compare well to relative sea-level constraints around Antarctica.
•The coupled model produces improved fits to GPS observations of modern uplift rates.

http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.quageo.2013.10.005
Author(s): Sumiko Tsukamoto , Kyoko Kataoka , Takashi Oguchi , Andrew S. Murray , Goro Komatsu
Highlights
•Scoria and lahar deposits from Vesuvius were dated by luminescence dating method.
•IRSL fading rate was reduced dramatically with preheat and stimulation temperatures.
•Scoria from the AD472 eruption and lahar from the AD1631 eruption were dated.
