岩石コアスクール@産総研に参加してきました


D2の山口保彦です。
J-DESCコアスクール:岩石コア記載技術コース(8/22-24@産総研)に参加し、日本全国の七つの火山の掘削コアを使って、記載の仕方などを習ってきました。岩石に関してはほとんど素人でしたが、なんとなく火山岩の見方が分かってきた気がします。

お目当ては、伊豆大島と新島のコア。というのも、僕が有機物を分析している海洋堆積物コア(房総半島沖)には、伊豆大島や新島あたりが起源と思われるスコリアやパミスがけっこう入ってきており、前々から気になっていました。また、昨年乗船したIODPでも「玄武岩中の海底下生命圏」が主目的の一つで、火山岩と微生物の関係が近年注目を集めています。

来週末には、研究室巡検で皆で伊豆大島に行くので、 実際の火山の様子などを見てくるのが楽しみです!

7月に海外の学会があったこともあり、8月はじめに久しぶりに研究室メンバーがたくさん揃いました。
次の日が池田さんの誕生日だったので、ケーキを準備して誕生日会となりました。




7月終わりが誕生日のChristelleさんと関も一緒に祝ってもらいました。


次に集まるのは9月ですね。
