Dr. Steven J. Phipps from University of Tasmania によるセミナー

1128日、University of Tasmania から横山研究室に訪問されたSteven J. Phipps 先生に、ご自身の研究内容についてのセミナーをしていただきました。
Steven 先生は古気候や氷床のモデルを専門に研究されており、モデルを用いたシミュレーションで南極の氷床変動についての予測を行なっています。

Steven 先生による氷床モデルの説明

南極の氷床が融解することによる海面上昇は、COP21などでも大きく取り上げられた問題の一つです。

「更なる研究の進展には、より多くのサンプルが必要である」という先生の主張が印象的でした。
