1. Holocene Antarctic melting and lithospheric uplift history of the southern Okinawa trough inferred from mid- to late-Holocene sea level in Iriomote Island, Ryukyu, Japan
Yusuke Yokoyama , Yasuo Maeda, Jun'ichi Okuno, Yosuke Miyairi, Takeharu Kosuge
Keywords: Sea level; Ryukyu; Antarctica; Holocene; Tectonics; Glacio hydro isostasy

2. Tree-ring footprints of drought variability in last 300 years over Kumaun Himalaya, India and its relationship with crop productivity
Ram R. Yadav , Krishna G. Misra, Akhilesh K. Yadava, Bahadur S. Kotlia, Sandhya Misra

Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) developed from Himalayan cedar chronologies.
Reconstructed SPI displayed high year-to-year variability.
SPI significantly correlated with wheat and barley productivity in rainfed system.
Historical droughts recorded in reconstruction associated with rabi crop failures.
Keywords:  Himalayan cedar; Tree-ring; Standardized Precipitation Index; Drought; Rabi crop; Agriculture; Kumaun Himalaya; India

3. A dual-tracer approach to estimate upwelling velocity in coastal Southern California
William Z. Haskell II, , Douglas E. Hammond, Maria G. Prokopenko
•Using 7Be and 234Th, we estimate upwelling velocities to be 0.5±0.6 to 2.5±1.3md−1.
•These agree to within uncertainty with the pressure field-based Bakun Index.
•A heat budget and hydrography suggest that upwelling is driven by wind stress curl.
Keywords: upwelling; particle export; radioactive tracers
